Principle Difference

· Excitation Generator: The rotor creates its magnetic field using an external electrical current (excitation). An Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) supplies and controls this current to maintain a stable output voltage.

· PM Inverter Generator: The rotor uses powerful permanent magnets to create a constant magnetic field. The raw, high-frequency AC power generated is converted to DC and then electronically "inverted" back to a perfect, stable AC output.

Excitation GeneratorPM Inverter Generator
Pros

• Lower initial cost.

• Robust and simple technology, easier to repair.

• Excellent voltage and frequency stability (clean power for sensitive electronics).

• High fuel efficiency, especially at light loads.

• Quieter operation and lighter weight for the same power output.

Cons

• Less stable output voltage under varying loads. • Less fuel-efficient, especially at partial load.

• Heavier, noisier, and produces "dirtier" power unsuitable for some electronics.

• Higher initial cost.

• More complex electronics, which can be more expensive to repair.
