Your choice depends on the level of control, responsibility, and cost you want.
· EXW (Ex-Works):
· Choose if: You have a reliable agent in China to handle all logistics, customs, and shipping from the supplier's factory. It gives you maximum control but also maximum responsibility and complexity.
· FOB (Free On Board):
· Choose if: You want a good balance. The supplier handles everything until the goods are loaded on the ship at the Chinese port (for us, usually Shanghai Port). You then take control and responsibility for the main ocean freight, insurance, and destination logistics.
· CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight):
· Choose if: You want simplicity and are a less experienced importer. The supplier arranges and pays for the ocean freight and insurance to your destination port. However, you have less control over shipping costs and quality, and risk ends only at the destination port.
